Random Sampling- everyone has an equal chance of being picked.

Ratings- who gets the advertisements money.

Leak- release of secret information.

Spot Advertising- Uses short commercials to tell what they want.

Prior Restraint- Government cencorship of any information.
Libel- A way of hurting someone through lies, or a form of slander.
Shield Laws- Protect the media from laws nor.mally that would be violated.
Equal Time Doctrine- give equal time to candidates.
Fairness Doctrine- Must give a news or announcement when needed.

Taxes- money given by people to help the government.
Taxable Income- The money left after taxes are taken out.
Dependent- A person who needs another to live, gives money back in taxes.
Withholding- Pays any tax before April 15.
Securities- Financial instruments like a bond or a or certificatopn.
National Debt- Money owed to another country from borrowing.

Fiscal Year- a year for money October 1- September 30
Uncontrollables- Expendisures required by the laws. b y previous budgets.
Entitlement- Benefits given by congress for the law of every individule.
Incrementalism- When the total budget from 1 year to the next does not change that much.

Interest Group- The private group that walk around to explain their ideas
Public Interest Group- A huge organization like a church, that tells their beliefs to people.

Lobbying- Direct contact to the people they are influencing.
Lobbyist- The people that do work to show their common ideas to a group of people, like on TV.
